The winter recruitment period proves to be a period of intense speculation and possible major transfers. Several prominent stars are being connected to transfers out of their present teams. We examine some of the major names that could be changing clubs in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Although Ghana's inability to qualify for the AFCON, which has left the player available, indications are an important transfer is close. The 25-year-old has a deal with a substantial release clause active for a two-week period at the start of the month. Latest developments point to Manchester City look to have won the race for his services. B. Johnson

This Welsh forward has found starting minutes hard to come by at Spurs this campaign. Despite being the side's top scorer the previous campaign, Johnson has begun just a small number of league matches. It is understood the London club is willing to consider a sale for the correct valuation, believed to be in the region of forty million pounds. The Cherries are currently leading the chase, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford additionally showing an interest.

Spurs value the Welsh international at around £40m.

R. Neves

The Portugal midfielder might be set for a return to the English top flight after a period in Saudi Arabia. Now just 28, while his agreement ending in the summer of 2026, he represents a potential opportunity. Teams like Liverpool and Manchester United are linked with the former Wolves man. Additionally, there have been suggestions from Spain that he is prepared to take a reduced salary for a move to the Spanish giants.

M. ter Stegen

This veteran Germany shot-stopper is now as the third option at Barça following the manager Hansi Flick. Having lost his place and had an operation, a winter departure seems highly likely. Aston Villa were initially linked as a possible suitor, but that option currently seems unlikely. Instead, clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly expressing interest in the keeper.

I. Toney

The proven England striker has kept finding the net regularly in Saudi Arabia. A return to the Premier League might boost his fading hopes of making the England World Cup. But, securing a deal poses significant hurdles. Al-Ahli do not wish to part with him, and his reported huge weekly wages render any agreement difficult. C. Gallagher

The energetic midfielder drew considerable interest in the summer but remained at Atlético Madrid. Having few starting appearances in La Liga this season, he is eager to secure more playing time ahead of the tournament. Manchester United are heavily connected, and a return to Selhurst Park, a club he excelled on loan, is also a option, though wage constraints might prove a stumbling block.

H. Elliott

Although starring and being named the best player award at the U21 Euros last summer, the young midfielder has found it tough for minutes during his loan spell at Villa. Unai Emery has confirmed the loan move will not become permanent. Because of FIFA regulations about representing two clubs in a season, a return to his parent club prior to next summer appears to be the sole viable outcome.

Kenan Yildiz

This highly-rated Turkish forward has been in fine form for the Italian giants this season.
